Welcome to Junior 4!

I’m Mrs Ashton, and I am thrilled to be your child’s teacher this year. I will be working alongside Mrs Reilly and Mrs Smith, who are both wonderful members of our classroom team. Our class includes children from Years 5 and 6, and we are excited to begin a new year together.

Each morning, we will focus on Maths and English, building on the children’s existing knowledge and helping them to tackle new ideas with confidence. Our afternoons will be filled with a variety of foundation subjects, including Science, History, Art, DT, Computing, RE, Music and PE. The children will have opportunities to investigate, create, discuss and apply what they have learned, with plenty of interesting topics and practical activities along the way.

The children will have PE on Wednesdays with Mr Jennings, followed by a further PE session on Thursdays. Year 5 children will also attend swimming every Monday morning.

At home, the children will have a reading book and a weekly spelling list. We encourage them to read each night and practise their spellings regularly using the ‘look, say, cover, write, check’ approach. Maths and English homework will be given out on Fridays and returned by the following Tuesday.

Seesaw is where we will share news, reminders, photographs and examples of the children’s work, so please check it regularly.

We are really looking forward to getting to know the children, sharing their experiences and watching them grow in confidence throughout the year.
