Junior 5: Mr Eaton
Welcome to Junior 5!
I’m Mr Eaton, and it is a real privilege to be returning to Cobbs Brow—the primary school I attended as a child. The school holds many happy memories for me, so I am incredibly proud to have the opportunity to teach here and to lead the Junior Department. I hope the children in Junior 5 will enjoy their time at Cobbs Brow just as much as I did and create many special memories of their own.
Junior 5 is a mixed Year 5 and Year 6 class. We are lucky to have Miss Shallcross as our teaching assistant who will support the children throughout the week. Mrs Pugh will be teaching the class for a few lessons in the afternoon, with Mr Jennings conducting our weekly PE lesson on Wednesdays.
Maths and English are taught each morning, followed by a broad range of foundation subjects during the afternoons. Across the curriculum, children will build their knowledge, explore new ideas and learn how to apply their understanding in different ways. There will be plenty of opportunities for discussion, problem-solving, practical investigation and creativity. Our aim is for children to enjoy their learning, feel confident contributing to lessons and leave Junior 5 knowing more, remembering more and being ready for their next stage.
Junior 5 will be a happy, welcoming classroom built upon kindness, respect and teamwork. We will set high expectations, take pride in our work and celebrate the effort that leads to success. Children will be encouraged to approach challenges with resilience and a strong growth mindset, recognising that mistakes are part of learning and that the most rewarding achievements often require determination and perseverance.
Our class motto reflects this:
“If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you.”
We look forward to sharing our learning, achievements and memorable moments with families throughout the year. Please keep checking Seesaw and the school’s Facebook page for regular updates from Junior 5.
I am excited for the year ahead and look forward to working with the children and their families.
Mr Eaton
